Kerri Nelson is an associate at Holstein Law Group, and a member of the firm’s Leadership Team, tasked with helping the firm set and meet business goals. Kerri’s legal practice encompasses complex business litigation, with an emphasis on employment law and advising clients on everyday human resources and employment law issues. She also serves on the Communications Committee for the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, currently co-chairs the Hennepin County Bar Association Civil Litigation Section, and serves as a Section Representative to the Hennepin County Bar Association Board of Directors.
Kerri discovered her deep and abiding interest in the law while working as a professional legal secretary for numerous attorneys, including Linda Holstein. In 2003, she left her legal secretary job to attend law school, later returning to work with Linda and the other attorneys at the firm as a law clerk, and eventually as an associate. She graduated magna cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her law review case note, “Shades of Gray: The Sophisticated Intermediary Defense is Now Available for Minnesota Industrial Failure to Warn Actions,” was published in Volume 31, Issue No. 2 of the William Mitchell Law Review, and Kerri served on the law review staff, first as a staff member and later as an assistant editor. She also participated in William Mitchell’s Civil Litigation clinic, representing clients under the supervision of the clinic professors.
A native Minnesotan, Kerri’s undergraduate degree is a B.A., cum laude, in psychology and English, from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. During her undergraduate junior year, she studied at the University of Exeter in Devon, England. Kerri and her husband, Mike, are avid recreational scuba divers, and were married underwater while diving in the Florida Keys. They have two young daughters, Kirian and Bronwyn. Kerri is also an inveterate reader. On weekends, she volunteers by reading stories to young children at a local bookstore. She is thrilled to be practicing at Holstein Law Group, particularly because of the close-knit, team environment the firm offers.
